I know with all my heart that this gospel is true. Everytime I bear testimony of these things, I know without a doubt, they are true, I know Joseph Smith was a prophet of God called to restore the church again upon the earth. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I LOVE THE BOOK OF MORMON! I have seen the Gospel change lives. I have seen the light of Christ glow in investigators eyes as they realize they are children of a Heavenly Father who loves them. I love my Savior Jesus Christ, this work would be impossible with out him. I will miss wearing his name everyday, but I will enjoy bearing testimony of him for the rest of my life! This world does need the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is a happiness that comes from the Gospel that can not be found anywhere else. It has been a priviledge for me to share this truth!
I love you all so much and I'm grateful for all your love, support, prayers, letters etc! Thank You!

My testimony of the Savior and His atonement has grown so much! I love this time of year because of the focus on Jesus Christ and His birth. You can feel the spirit of Jesus Chirst all around. This past year went by so fast! I don't know where the time goes! You can feel the magic of Christmas in California, the only thing we are missing is the snow, but we do have the FOG! I am companions with a girl from Tonga, she has been praying to see snow. The other day we were on our way home from an appointment and we randomly pulled into a parking lot. Let me tell you it was a miracle! We saw 2 piles of SNOW! We couldn't belive it! We had a container in the trunk so we filled it up with snow and took it to Sis Fangupo! I threw the first snowball and that started a snowball fight!

We LOVE SISTER Luncheons!

We had a temple tour within our Zone. We had 170 people attending.. Every language was represented including Hmong, Cambodian, Laotion, English and SPANISH! There were 3 tours, one in English, two in Spanish. We ate dinner then had an amazing baptism! 4 people were baptized! The church is at the end of Temple Hill. The event was well organized and everyone did their part! It was great! This picture is of me, my comps and one of our investegators.

We had a Great day! Our entire zone got to go up to the Sacrmamento Temple! We woke up at 4 so we could be ready and be on time! It was a miracle for us all to be there because it is so far away and it is hard to find members in the spanish ward with a car to take us. We found a perfect member with a big 8 passenger van that could take half of us, so we found a car for the other 4. Well, the driver picking up the elders got in a wreck, so we piled the elders in with us. It was so funny! I sat on a lawn chair (no seat belt) and we squoze 6 elders in the back. There were shades that pulled down on all the windows so no one could see in! I have a new appreciation for those that cram in the back of a van to cross the border!

Thank you, thank you for the flip flops! It was so cute and I loved them so much! It was so fun receiving them in the mail! One day I received 25 letters! Wow! Talk about making my day! So my birthday was great. We pretty much celebrated it all week! On my birthday, we ate lots of food! We went to a members and she made me the funniest cake EVER! I don't know where it came from but somewhere they got the idea I grew up on a turkey farm so she made me a cake with "turkey poop" on it! It was soooo funny!

We alos had dinner with a member that night and my first companion showed up! It was so fun to see her, she was visiting the mission with her mother. The sisters had decorated our apartment, gave me a crown and sash. Anyway, it was a great day and I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone that sent a flip flop! I loved everyone of them!

One of my favorite things about serving a mission is the extra spirit I have when I teach. I love the feeling I get when I open my mouth and I can feel the spirit working through me, expecially in a language I don't understand! This is seriously the most amazing time in my life! When I get home, I am extremely exhausted! It takes about 2 seconds after my head hits the pillow to fall asleep! Most of the time, I don't even make it in the covers!

I have experienced every kind of emotion and find myself turning to my Father in Heaven more than I ever have before! It is amazing to only worry about my investigators and the people here and how I'm going to help them have the gospel in their lives! I love the spanish program! It is amazing that I am somehow able to contact these people in a language I have only been speaking for 12 weeks. I am so blessed!!! I love this gospel!!!

We had a great week and an awesome UNITY DAY! It was fun to be together with the entire mission. We met and played sports in the morning, had lunch, talent show and unity activity, then President will tells us about our transfers. We have been working all week with early morning and evening practices for our part on the mission talent show. It was a lot of fun, I was proud of our Zone, they all got into it! I will be staying in the same area, my comp and I will be training a new sister. She is from Bluffdale, a dental hygienist. She is going to be amazing to work with!

We had cheesy potatoe casserole (funeral potatoes) for lunch -first time for my companion!, We had a sunday nap (short but good), A Sunday drive (we got lost in the country), and even a sunday visit from Sister Jardine. She brought strawberries and chocolate and we all had a good talk!

Here is just a quick update! I am really loving being in the Spanish Ward! They really know how to party! We had a Fathers Day Activity, they killed a beef for the dinner. I felt like I was at the M.C.C. (Mexican Cultural Center)! There was a fashion show with beautiful dresses from their countries. Then they all did a dance together. After, the highlight of the night was when they all came out and did a dance from Pakistan! It was...well, a belly dance! I think the fathers enjoyed the performance! It did not end there, thats when the dancing began! We enjoyed watching! It was hard not to dance!

Great Valentines Day!

Our ward had a PROM! It was for Valentines Day. The women all looked fabulous in their oh so pretty dresses! Some of the men even wore tux's! The best part was that the women even wore their dresses to church! I love this ward! There was some controversy over having the prom as some of the single women felt it was a couples thing and wouldn't go! So, we had the privilege of being their valentines, we even went to dinner with them at El Rodeo!

Our District Leader challenged us to think of something creative we could do on Valentines Day because not many would be home and we had a hard time making appts. So, we did a HEART ATTACK to these two sisters! They are hilarious! By far the best valentines day ever!!!

Our Zone went to Havenero Hots for lunch. After eating lunch, they bring out the haveneros and you eat it. I did not know what a havenero was, but I do now!!! It is the hottest, spiciest chili pepper! My mouth is on fire and my body hurts! We were not about to let the elders show us up! We even got t-shirts!

We are out of miles so we needed to find alternative modes of transportation. We tried walking for a day but it was very in-effective! We rallied together some bikes! The members thought we were crazy! What an adventure...petals falling off, flat tires, broken bikes and rain!

I do love Galt! There are amazing people here. On Sister Packs first day, we had dinner at a less active home. They are an older couple and live on a farm. We went out to help feed the 16 cows. We were in a little cart thing. Sis Bateman and I were hanging on for dear life in the back. (in our skirts!) It was fun and so hililarious! Have to admit, we were a tad bit nervous, but we survived.

I am absoultely freezing!!! I didn't think California would get cold, but it is!

We have a babtism this saturday! We are so so so excited! Her son joined the church 30 years ago, she has had some problems recently and moved in with her son. We met with her several times. She has never seen the prophet speak before but has been reading every ensign article for the past while! It was so neat to go to the church with her to see the First Presidency's Christmas Devotional. She was able to listen to the Prophet! It was so neat! She has asked to be baptized!

Two other investigators...we tract into them one night, they were talking about the need for God in their lives. They both had members of the church in their families. They said they knew we were sent from God!

We had a live nativity at the church, it was after the city light parade. They used a real baby and real animals. It was so cool! It really put me in the Christmas spirit!

Love you all! Church is true!!!!

Memorable thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving here was great! It was definitely memorable! We had the whole day off! We went to dinner and it was interesting! Lets just say that the family was different than ours! After dinner we went and played games with our district. It was a lot of fun. My stomach hurt so bad from laughing! It was great.

Transfers were this week, we are all staying. My comp is great, but we just have two very different ways of working! I am only the second comp she has been with longer than one transfer and I am finding out why. But it is all okay, really.

We are starting to see some progress in our area. We are working with a sister who comes to church all the time, everyone thought that she was a member, loves the church, but says it is not necessary to be baptized, she already was in her other church.

With it being Thanksgiving time, I will share with you one thing I am thankful for this beautiful fall day! I am thankful for my name! Yes my name! The name Amy. I sure do miss it but love reading it at the top of my letters! I have never really appreciated the name much, it was just my name. Now, I really miss hearing it. I never thought of it before. Sister is plain, especially when every other sister is sister! So, yes mom and dad, thank you for naming me AMY!

Plans for Thanksgiving include dinner with a family, visiting with another family in the ward and getting together with our district tonight to play games! Yes, we are playing games.

I love it here! Yesterday, we helped a member who just had heart surgery and can't lift anything. When we left, she gave us 3 pies! How does that happen? Good thing we are seeing the elders tonight!

The first stop we had in California was the Sacramento Temple. We ate lunch there then hustled to the mission home. We met with President Jardine. That night, Sister Moss and I stayed at a members home. Then the next day we met our companions and went to our first area. Sister Moss was my comp in the MTC and she and her comp live with us in a house.

Some neighbors from my home ward used to live in this area and were coming out here for business so, they brought a package from home. It had my coat- that was just going to be sent to me. The people who we stayed with that first night, were the same people that bought the house from my neighbors that now live back home, 15 years ago! It is such a small world! So we got a picture of me and my comp, the members here and my neighbors at home!

First Letter from Sacramento!!!

Greetings from the land of the trees!!! So I'm officially in California! And I'm loving it! Oh how I love it! From the minute I got off the plane it has been great! The flight was bumpy...really bumpy! The poor elder next to me, it was his first time flying! The attendants took great care of them, two of them were members. As soon as we got off the plane, it felt awesome! I was so excited!!! We got to the other side of security and the assistant was waiting for us, he told ;us to get in a asingle file and go down the escalator. At the bottom was our mission president and wife and the 2 other assistants. It was so exciting! They were taking pictures and smiling! We got our luggage and took a trip around Sacramento. Interesting place! Then we went to the temple to have a picnic on the grounds. It is such a pretty temple! Then the assistant put in a cd and it was a song from Remember the Titans. As we drove up to the temple it kept getting more and more intense, then as soon as we pulled up to the temple it had Gordon B Hinckley's testimony. We soon had to meet back at the mission home so we hurried back.

I love my mission president and his wife, they are wonderful and so fun! Sister Moss and I spent the night at a home near by. It was a beautiful home and we got the best sleep in three weeks!

At the church, we had some training and then it was time to meet our companions. We started walking down the hall to the chapel and could hear , "Called to Serve" being sung. Then we walked in and saw all our trainers. We sat down on the opposite side then one by one, the president called us up, gave us a letter and read where we were going to serve. Everyone clapped, then our trainers ran up and hugged us, it was quite the experience!

My companion is Sister Anderson from Provo. Sister Moss and her companion will be sharing the same house with us. We are the first sister missionaries to be there in about 15 years! Everyone is so excited, they don't know quite what to do! Both our trainers are Spanish speaking missionaries and were pulled out to train us. I'm learning a bit of spanish so I can pray and bear testimony. We are living in a house where elders have been for a long time and its gross! The RS has a service project going on right now to clean it! Love you all! The church is true!!! Don't forget to write!!!

Yes! We do have proof that she was at the airport! She called me (mom) and while I was talking to her, Dad walked off his plane, he was at gate D5, she was at D8. Directly across the hall! He took this picture of her talking to me with his phone! He was not going to look for her, but if he happened to run into her, fine! That was too good! He was able to be with her for about 45 minutes then he watched her board the plane. I was so happy that he was able to be there and it worked out the way it did. It was never planned this way. There were 8 Elders, 2 Sisters. The DL was good at keeping them all together. While she was talking on the phone, he went over and talked to the elders. They asked if he knew her, they could not believe that she had found someone already to talk to and they were looking around to see who they could go find! True missionary spirit! He also got pictures of her plane and stood and watched in the parking lot as she took off! She gave him her camera card from the mtc, so watch for photos. I'll try to get them up soon!

She sounded so good on the phone and Jeff said that she was so bubbly and ready to go! The elders in her district were so great and she said it was so hard to leave them. They got up early to be with these two sisters. Helped them with their luggage and waited for them to leave. Those 8 elders and two other sisters leave on Wed morning. They have already planned for a disctrict reunion! The MTC was a great experience for her and she has no doubt about going on a mission! She is so greatful for the opportunity! It will be fun to hear all about it the next 17 1/2 months! She so wanted to talked to everyone, especially the little girls, but had such little time to, so she is looking forward to Christmas!!!! She loves us all, and ,"oh by the way, THE CHURCH IS TRUE!!"

Okay, what do you get when Jeff and Kevin are away? Could it be Sharon, Kristen and Luke driving by the Provo Temple on Sunday afternoon!!! It was simply amazing to see hundreds of Elders and Sisters out for a stroll up to the temple on a nice, sunny, Sunday afternoon! Our car was parked in the parking lot near the crosswalk, Amy and her district walked right by and did not even see us, Kristen got out of the car and took a picture. Then we drove up and entered the temple parking lot and drove down to the exit. She happened to be standing on the sidewalk taking a picture of some sisters. When she was through, she turned and looked at us, we waved and drove off. Her lips seemed to say, "How embarrassing, my family!" We parked on the outside of the temple grounds just across from where they were, to put Luke in his carseat. They all stood over there waving at us, including the elders! As we drove down and around and past the MTC, they were walking back and we saw them so we honked and waved!!! She looked so cute, and we were glad that she was wearing that green sweater, so that she was easier to spot! It was a great event, our windows were up, no words were exchanged, but a great surprise for all of us!

Yesterday, Amy woke up and finished up her packing! We weighed her big suitcase and it was 48 lbs, with room to spare! By the time we left. she had her arms full of things she had forgotten and asked if I would send the things on her bed (hair stuff just in case she would want to wear her hair curly) Needless to say that she will probably go over the weight limit at the airport!
Goodbyes were basically said here at home, then we zipped to Benjamin-Grandpa and Grandma Wride were so cute and positive-they know first hand how everyone at the MTC bend over backwards to make the next 3 wks very positive.

There was a tender moment in the car when she opened a letter from Tyler with a name tag with Elder Olson on it. With it was the original letter written by Mike when he gave it to Tyler. Tyler added his own letter to it and she now has that name tag to carry with her for 18 months. How about that!!! A name tag serving for 5 yrs and 8 months!! (I am so impressed that it was still around and accessible!- Thanks guys, it meant soooooo much!!!!!)

As she recived her name tag, another sister was getting hers also, she was headed to Norway- the lady said that several had gone through during the day, headed for Norway or Sweden. Thats when I say hip hip horray for California!!! Kevin, Kristen and Luke, Tyler, Nicole and girls joined us for pictures and good byes. Mike, Janille and girls were with us in our hearts and felt the same emotions in St George. Amy was a little nervous and kept saying, "Let the games begin". During the meeting, Amy knudged me and said that she had forgotten her hangers. Oh great!!! The movie ended, it was a quick hug for each of us and off she went. We were sitting right by the missionary exit. Amy has wonderful friends that she will miss very much as we will also miss her, but she is in for a terrific experience, one that I as her mother am a little jealous and greatful for her desire and willingness to go. Someone told me that the guys are expected to serve missions, it is a choice for sisters! It was certainly a choice she made and worked hard to carry it out. Lets all write her often and let her know we are proud of her and support her!!!

My Quilt!!!

So my mom and I are a little crazy and thought it would be fun to tie a quilt! (Not like we don't have anything better to do with me leaving this week!) I am so happy! It turned out so cute! It will be very nice in sunny Cali!!!

Back Together!

I was able to get together with my roomates from Provo and it was so fun to see them!!! We went and got ice cream at the creamery! It brought back some good ole memories we had at the Branbury!

Fun Weekend!!!

The weekend of my farewell was so crazy!!! I had some friends from St. George come up for the weekend. We had a sleepover but didn't get much sleep! (Winnie the Pooh!) We also went to the BYU football game, Los Hermanos, Comedy Sports, and lots of hanging out! It was so fun to see them again! On sunday was my farewell and I think I was more nervous about that then actually leaving!!! It went ok and I'm glad to say I survived!!! It was so fun having all my friends and family there!!! It was a perfect weekend!!!

Salt Lake

Us girls got tickets to the Osmond Concert with the Tab Choir at the Conference Center. We had so much fun! It was a good girls night! It was fun to see the Tab Choir rockin out with the Osmonds! It's always so fun when we get together!

The Temple

Going through the temple was such an awesome experience! I went through the Manti Temple! It was so amazing! It was so neat being able to be there with all my family! It was such a blessing to go! I also had alot of support from Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles. It was absolutly wonderful!

It Finally Came!!!

Yahoo the day I had been waiting for finally came, the day my mom called and told me that Jesse had a white envelope he needed to drop off with my name on it! I was at work when I got the call in the middle of a meeting and started crying! They were all just as excited as i was though. (They had to put up with me while I was waiting!) I was so excited it came on a friday so I was convinced it wouldn't come that week so it was a nice surprise! Mike's family and I drove up that day. I didn't get nervous until we were at the bottom of the hill. I knew what was waiting for me, It didn't help that mike kept driving around the block. Everyone came out and they were waving it in the air. My whole family was able to be there also Grandpa and Grandma Wride and Mindy and Tyson. Grandpa and Grandma Olson were on the phone and of coarse no one will let me forget Whittney. I was so excited when I read Sacramento!!! Sac town here I come!!!
